In 1531, the Blessed Mother appeared four times to St. Juan Diego asking for a church to be built in her honor. The last time she appeared to St. Juan Diego, on December 12, 1531, she arranged roses in his tilma, which he then took to the bishop. When he opened his cloak, the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously present on the tilma.
Chaplet of the Holy Face of Jesus
The purpose of the Chaplet of the Holy Face is to honor the Five Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and to ask of God the triumph of His holy Church. St. Athanasius said the devils hate “Arise, O Lord and let they enemies be scattered…” more than any other Scripture verse. This phrase is used in this Chaplet and He added that this always compelled them to take flight!
